Treasure ! The Missing Timepiece
All our activities are suitable to non-native English speakers of one ability level or another. Even those activities primarily targeted at UK students are suitable for proficient English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students, although in some cases they may be quite challenging!
We can, in many cases, offer a fully translated option for younger students or those with very limited English, without making the puzzles themselves too childlike. Please enquire if you believe your group requires this facility.
Our grading system for activities follows the Common European Framework for language teaching and examination. We've simplified the many possible levels by classifying our games as 'Advanced', Intermediate' and 'Elementary'; the following table illustrates the proficiency level expected from each of these classifications to help teachers and organisers choose the right game and level for their group.
C1 - Proficiency
C2 - Advanced
B2 - Upper Intermediate
B1 - Intermediate & pre-intermediate
A2 - Pre-intermediate & Elementary
A1 - Beginner

A Hunt for a Missing Pocket Watch!
The story so far...
Oh dear, oh dear! The White Rabbit has lost his precious pocket watch, and now he is running late all of the time!
Could someone have stolen the watch? Who would do such a thing? Certainly not Alice, who is helping the White Rabbit look for it. Perhaps the Cheshire Cat, whose grin is wider than ever? Or maybe one of the guests at the Mad Hatter’s tea-party... after all, they’re all a bit crazy! Or possibly the Queen of Hearts... we all know that she isn’t the nicest of people.
Or did the White Rabbit simply drop the watch in his haste to get somewhere? No-one knows the truth, but one thing is for sure – there will be no peace in Wonderland until the pocket watch is recovered!
The Caterpillar has stumbled upon a series of clues and a map. If you can solve all the clues, you may be able to help Alice and the White Rabbit find the missing pocket watch. Good luck!
This is an activity for groups of up to 50, working in separate teams. Teams follow routes on a map to visit 20 marked clue locations. The puzzle is solved using the compass points North, East, South and West.

Foreign language versions have instructions and clues in native language and answers to select in simple English, so this is suitable for beginners learning English.
